Short version. My teenage ambition was to be a photographer. I took an odd route to get there: anthropologist → journalist→ media consultant & editor → photographer.
I love food and drink. I even grow and make some of my own. So both often appear in my pictures. I wrote about the shipping industry for a while. That's another recurring theme. Though I have legendary seasickness. A wobble in a glass of water will do it.
Above all, I like telling stories. So pure documentary photography appeals to me. For a while I told the story of people's wedding days through documentary photographs. I did my best to fade into the background. Couples would often be asked why they hadn't hired a photographer. As a result, they ended up with a true record of their day, rather than a series of stage-managed pictures.
